Angel Drawings Research

A scientific case study of automatic drawing

On april 4, 2002, dr. Vladimir Sivitsky organised an exhibition of Aster's Angel Drawings in the Maxim Bogdanovich's Literary Museum (Minsk, Belarussia) and invited several prominent scientists to discuss the pheonomenon of ideomotoric drawing.

Ideomotor specialist, Sports Psychologist, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology of the International Humanitarian and Economics Institute, Minsk, Dr. Vladimir Sivitsky, Ph.D.

"You can see it as a mental movement, a movement of the idea".

(Introduction omitted)

Ideomotor effect is present in all the aspects of man’s activity where actions and movements are involved. Ideomotor is a very important part of some activities such as the recovery of disabled movements, the recovery of habituary movements, the recovery of movement after trauma and performing the movements which are difficult to coordinate. Within the area of psychotherapy (psychological traumata and emotional traumata) and sports psychology (physical traumata) we have been doing ideomotor research for ten years. Throughout this period of time a lot of techniques and methodologies have been developed and computer diagnostic software and training programs were created. All this is described on our internet site, the site of our institute, IHEI.

Aster and Angel drawings, living examples of ideomotor act and effect.

Aster presented his case to me in 2001 and asked us to research his (sub)consciousness, his trancendental experiences and his automatic drawings, which he calls angel drawings.

In conflict with an Alien obsessor

When Aster talks about his problem and the personal circumstances in which the problem is embedded, his story takes us to a state of being beyond time and space. However, when Aster was 18 years old he started to play out a conflict with an inner force that felt alien, external and consisting of just knowledge and will; He thought of it as an alien obsessor. Aster could not explain it, other than that he knew he could be temporarily relieved from its constant presence by means of a succesful artistic expression. What exactly constituted success was unclear to him, his searching for form, style, colours did not seem to be of any relevance, but he recognised an inner peace if this force had been transformed into an artistic manifest that had somehow pleased the alien obsessor. Specialists that he consulted were not able to find any pathology but were also not able to find any explanation for the obscure inner force he so well described.

Psychic premediation, a spontanious supernatural ability.

Aster isolated himself for two years at age 19 and left his home in the Netherlands to live a secluded life in London in order to completely devote to and concentrate on expressing the obscure alien obsessor. Aster had not developed automatic drawing by that time, neither did he know about these things. Years later Aster realised how the alien obsessor was pushing forward inside him to awaken his spirit and prepare his mind and body for the receiption of the angelic prophecies and angel drawings that were to follow.

A psychic painting!

At age 22, in 1979, this ongoing inner struggle came to a conclusion after oilpainting a triptych. This triptych is of great importance to Aster because he considers the creation of it due to a supernatural ability; it was a drawn prophesy, a psychic premeditation of the tragic circumstance concerning his brothers murder in 1983, something that triggered the manifestation of transcendental ideomotor automatism with him from then onwards.

Margaretha, Asters guardian Angel and spiritguide explains!

Retrofitting the clear meaning of Margaretha's early automatic writings, written through Aster as the young psychic medium in 1984, the 1979 painting represents 'going to the realms of Anster'. Margaretha's writings and early angel drawings formed Aster's personal mythology and asterism, as it was written by her own hand, an analogy with the tradition of transgressing into the afterlife according to ancient Egyptian tradition.

One of the paintings shows an awkward burial. A freshly dug grave with a coffin placed on top of it, resting on two wooden support beams, awaiting the time of the burial. The grave was placed outside the cemetary walls. Remember, this was painted in 1979 as the conclusion of the inner conflict and struggle against the alien obsessor. 4 years later, in 1983, Asters brother Bob was murdered in Israel and buried, outside the walls of the cemetary a week later! The circumstances of his death and his non religious background had prevented his remains to be admitted to sacred ground! His grave still rests on the same spot today, a few yards from a public toilet.

How to say… This is what we see here now and also a lot more of Asters angel drawings that he created during the last 20 years.
