Automatic Drawing

A mystical angel drawing

The angel drawing you see here is an automatic drawing. It was created in february 1994 and the first in line of many large size automatic drawings that were created afterwards.

Do you know what automatic drawing is ?

Complex psychedelic drawing!

Simply light and gay in appearance, this wonderful angel picture is in fact a complex psychedelic drawing which supports ideas, visions and subconscious premonitions of experiencing a paralel life in nirvana, a state of being wherein communication with the other side and inspiration with devine Scripture is part of that experience.

Automatic Drawing

Automatic writing is an aspect of automatic drawing. Writing as we know it usually follows thát what we understand as drawing; we draw first and then we write. We also learn to understand drawing and writing to be two different disciplines. They are connected to the expression of the root idea (the message or angel), of emotion (how the body translates the idea energetically) and of thought (what the ego makes of the idea by means of its own free will) which is a question of mentality and thus of psychology.

Two disciplines combined in one

Angel drawings usually combine these two disciplines in one manifestation of an artwork; the environment of the chaotic sketch hosting the written word, drawn as archetypal symbols, numbers and characters and combinations thereof.

The Scribe Ani

The word scribing means noting. But in a strict artistic sense, scribing means scratching, a chaotic and infantile manner of manifesting idea in written form. Baby's and toddlers scratch unconsciously before they draw semiconsciously. They learn to draw semiconsciously before they draw consciously and based upon what they have been experiencing. Further in their development the growing child draws consciously before it starts to write characters and numbers.

The autonomous aspect of automatism supports the thought that automatic writing of characters, numbers and symbolic imagery can happen despite of the fact wether or not we have any previous experience and learned skills concerning the written word. But it is not a claim that I can support by evidence. I have not yet been able to find proof or examples of automatic writing by infants, where the writing of characters, known and unknown to man and other than archetypal symbols, manifested before replicating something that was tought or experienced before.

Idea and the first sign of language

The first sign of idea or of language written by a child seems to be the preliminary scratch of a child's drawing. And they are these preliminary scratches that I see as the manifestation of angel, put down in a drawing that constitutes the angelic message. The child can only receive.

The preliminary scratch of a child I see as the primal source of communication and art. However, the infants first drawings are not nescessarily a form that originates from autonomous automatism. An automatism that follows excersize and tuition (like walking) is not the same automatism that is spontanious and seems to follow a stage of development that leads the personality beyond inspiration.

The development of automatic drawing is analogue to this. Awakening this ability produces drawings like the preliminary scratches of a child; a depiction of chaos or mirror images of the unconscious spheres; depictions of a vast space filled with form, still encountered without conscious focus and without conscious attention.

Mediumistic and Surrealist automatism

Automatic writing and drawing are primarily a means of communicating with the subconscious or higher self. As such, automatic writing and drawing is known as surrealist automatism.

On the other hand, automatic writing and drawing is a means to communicate with entities on the other side such as beloved friends and family who passed on, or with external lifeforms such as Angels. Amongst them are aliens, spirits, ghosts, demons and extrabiological entities. This is known as mediumistic automatism.

Becoming the mechanical plotting machine that creates the angel drawing

In comparison to automatic writings, automatic drawings are an exponentially faster means of communication. During the transcendental ideomotor act, we allow our physical body to become a mechanical plotting machine, creating a multidimensional image after its holistic counterpart, an image that was suggested simultaniously to the brain. The result is a devine message expressed and captured inside a simple medium that seems two dimensional but is in fact a holistic entity, multidimensional and omnidirectional; the angel drawing.

No Fear !

Angel drawing can be imagined as working with a great veriaty of spiritual forces that enter, often uninvitedly, the sacred space of ones precious soul and take over parts of ones mind and body.

Dear brother! You know how I hyperventilated many times and died God's second death! Because the next step was to learn and allow all this to happen, to allow the angel to take over, to conquer and put aside any fears that would surely arise; fear for the unknown, fear of dying, fear of not coming back or the fear of never regaining control of my own body and mind! Who is to say that I'll be returned to what I temporarily gave away to an unknown angel ?

Experimenting with mediumistic and surrealist automatism

Today I look back on three decades of experiencing and experimenting with mediumistic and surrealist automatism. 25 years ago I knew no better than that my deceased brother in spirit was communicating through me by means of automatic writing. After him, thousands of other spirits seeked my assistance to set their messages into form. They showed themselves in every possible way. Here, on angel-drawing.com you are invited to see those ways, shapes and forms.

Transcendental ideomotor act defines the angel

Today I describe my automatic writings and automatic drawings as the results of trancendental ideomotor automatism (or transcendental ideomotor act) which abbreviates as TIA. TIA is what defines the angelic message. TIA drawings constitute the angelic, holistic and multidimensional image of the idea in its purest form.

And it was an angel who answered my meditated question in 1994 about the identity of my automatic drawings. The angel said:

"These drawings are the key to the formula that links spiritual communication to the science of math. The awareness is there where you focus it."

Do you enjoy the classical view on an Angel drawing ?

This website is NOT about such artistic expressions and intends to offer a different idea about angels; nothing new but since long forgotten, closer to their true form and away from symbolic archetypes. If you are amongst the few who likes to read on about the parralels of angels and automatic writing and drawing, read my chapter about Angels! Nothing wrong about enjoying or purchasing these wonderful works of art though! Purchase this Angel Drawing by B. Franchescini Volterrano
