Present manifestors of Angel Art
John C. Wilson
Drawing unknowingly, dodging consciousness
Angel art manifests in a great veriaty of shapes and forms and is created with various techniques. A very special technique which closes in on photographic reproduction of subconscious images is presented by artist John C. Wilson.
Several years ago Wilson struck upon a technique he knew nothing about. The new born automatic artist used a very blunt charcoal pencil and began to scribble erratically. Wilson: "I have always enjoyed drawing fine detail, and combined with the technique of automatic drawing, my desire was to draw unknowingly, to try and make each fast movement go in the opposite direction to that which I sensed was pre-conceived. It was like dogding my consciousness with each hand movement!"
Wanting to know answers from the universe
Wilson: "My drawings were executed at a low time in my life, living in London, grieving over lost relationships and wanting to know answers from the Universe. I have had some fascinating, drug-free experiences involving hypnagogic and hypnopompic hallucinations. Place names, dates and random writing recorded during such moments."
Angel Art is a phenomenon
Wilson: "This kind of work is a phenomemon. It's too instinctive and impossible for me to recreate. I've resigned it to being associated with a time in my life that is no longer relevant - or pleasant. I do daydream however, about it being part of an audio-visual experience at somewhere like the Tate Modern."
